ABSTRACT
Unilateral cleft lip palate presents a number of nose and lip deformities. Although several reports in the literature show the importance of the primary lip-nasal approach, few surgeons employ it. Regardless of the technique chosen by the surgeon in this approach, it is important to follow the principle of freeing the nasal structures and fixing them in a suitable position in alignment with the normal side. A total of 176 patients with unilateral cleft lip palate were treated with the lip nose approach in the primary repair, using a combination of rotation advancement procedure for the lip and the McComb technique for the nasal approach. The greatest advantage of this approach is to improve the child's facial image early, reduce secondary procedure and facilitating the commitment of the family to a long term multidisciplinary treatment.
