ABSTRACT
The Dr. Roberto Corrêa Chem Skin Bank, founded in 2005, is responsible for the capture, preservation, storage and distribution of allogeneic human skin.
Objective: To report the epidemiological profile of the donors of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia Skin Bank in Porto Alegre, during the period from 2016 to 2018.
Material and Method: For this analysis, a consultation was made to the monthly reports, whose periodic filling is part of the routine of the Skin Bank. Results: During the period from 2016 to 2018, 122 abstractions were performed, varying the age and sex of the donors.
Discussion: Proper skin coverage is a crucial factor in the management of large burned patients. The Dr. Roberto Corrêa Chem Skin Bank of Santa Casa de Porto Alegre works by capturing, processing and making available allogeneic skin slides for clinical use in grafts, where clinical conditions prevent the use of the autologous graft.
