ABSTRACT
Introduction: Squamous cell carcinoma is the most frequent malignant neoplasm of the lips, especially the lower one. The first-line treatment is surgical excision, with free margin, using wedge excision and direct closure. After excision, for defects greater than 50% of the labial length, the most used techniques are the Karapandzic and Bernard-Webster flaps. Objectives: To demonstrate a clinical case of squamous carcinoma, reconstructed with Bernard-Webster's flap.
Method: Literature review in PubMed and Scielo, with the keywords: "Bernard-Webster flap", "squamous cell carcinoma" and "lower lip".
Results: after 2 months there was adequate oral mobility, sensitivity without alterations, healing in good condition and without alterations for oral continence.
Conclusions: Bernard-Webster's flap represents an excellent alternative for the reconstruction of defects of total thickness, since it can be performed in a single time and uses similar neighboring tissues.
