ABSTRACT
Introduction: Obesity is considered one of the most serious public health problems. Surgery for obesity has been used for almost 50 years, resulting in skin flaccidity. Thus, as a treatment for cutaneous flaccidity resulting from large body losses, the demand for plastic surgery has been increasing.
Method: Descriptive analysis by means of medical records and hospitalization data of patients submitted to post-bariatric repair surgery between March and December 2018.
Results: 52 patients operated in the period, predominantly female; the most performed surgery was abdominoplasty; low complication rate, being the most common seroma. Discussion: Post-bariatric restorative plastic surgery offers benefits for patients with large weight loss, with abdominoplasty being the most requested. The rate of complications is low, with seroma being the most common, according to the literature.
Conclusions: Plastic surgery is part of the final treatment of obesity, to restore the dignity of patients undergoing bariatric surge
