ABSTRACT
Introduction: The term "otoplasty" refers to surgical changes in the shape or position of the ear. The prominent or flap ear occurs when there is a loss of the ankle fold, a concha angle greater than 90° and an excess of the auricular shell or a combination of these, occurring uni or bilaterally. The cause of ear deformities is not known.
Method: Presentation of a series of cases based on the experience of medical residency, review of medical records, photographic records, bibliographic review and surgical approach in patients with faulty ear and malformation of the anthelix.
Conclusions: As a general concept, the flapping ear is one of the most common reasons for consultation in plastic surgery. The great advantages presented in this work would be the effectiveness of the use of guidewire, for the formation of neo-anthelix in patients with loss of the antihelical fold.
