Dear Editor,

I read with interest the manuscript by Grassi Salles, which highlights the efforts made by the editorial staff of the Brazilian Journal of Plastic Surgery to improve the impact of this publication1.

Scientometric provides an overview of status of scientific journals and their progress. The h5-index is one of the scientometric indicators made available by Google Scholar Metrics2-5.

The value of the h5 - index is based on median of papers published within the last 5 years in order to calculate the position of the journal This index constitutes the largest number h such that h articles published in 2012-2016 had at least h times citation each.

The h5 - index of Ibero-Latin American journals on plastic surgery and burns are summarized in Table 1.

The indicator is remarkable to Brazilian journals, mainly the Brazilian Journal of Plastic Surgery that occupies the first position among Ibero-Latin American journals on plastic surgery and burns.
