ABSTRACT
Background: Research purpose is to systemize an effective treatment of vitiligo, through surgical technique of partial micro-skin grafting using punch grafting method, on patients that didn't achieve success in achromatic spots regression during clinical treatment. Surgical treatment indications are: segmented or focal vitiligo, no response to clinical treatment, positive implant test and established disease for more than a year. Method: Ten patients, seven with segmented vitiligo diagnosis and three with the focal type, were submitted to the micro-skin grafting technique with punch, using the sacral region as the skin donation area. Round partial skin fragments were removed and grafted in receiver area, characterized by the achromatic spots. Results: All patients developed satellite repigmentation, expressed by pigmented halos merge, providing fulfillment of achromatic areas. The results were considered excellent and promising, and what was once considered just hope, became disease backwash cure possibility, providing self steam recovery for the patient. This result was reached only when the protocol was followed, with the achievement of surgical procedure, in a moment that the disease immunological activity can not interfere in repigmentation process. This way, we avoid procedure nonsuccess, characterized by undesirable events like Koebner phenomenon, vitiligoid micrografting transformation, as well as, repigmentation process failures.
