ABSTRACT

Closed frontal fractures are generally resolved using prostheses, bone grafts or bone flaps. Acrylic, titanium, vitalium, silastic, acrylic resin, hydroxyapatite, metilmetacrilate prostheses are utilized. But prostheses present the greatest risk of infection and can suffer from extrusion. The iliac bone, ribs, cranial bones and the external structure of the cranial bones are used for bone grafts. Vascularized flaps of the external structure of the cranial bones are also utilized. The author shows repair of a closed frontal fracture with salvage of the depressed frontal bone itself without the necessity of the use of a prosthesis, bone graft or bone flap and with minimum scarring.

RESUMO

As fraturas frontais fechadas são geralmente resolvidas com colocação de próteses, enxertos ou retalhos ósseos. Foram utilizadas próteses de acrílico, titânio, vitalium, silastic, resina acrílica, hidroxiapatita ou metilmetacrilato. As próteses apresentam maior risco de infecção e podem sofrer extrusão. Na enxertia óssea foram utilizados: osso ilíaco, costela, ossos cranianos e a tábua externa dos ossos cranianos. Têm sido também utilizados retalhos vascularizados da tábua externa dos ossos do crânio. O autor mostra a resolução de uma fratura frontal fechada, com recuperação do próprio osso frontal afundado, sem a necessidade do emprego de prótese, enxertia óssea ou retalho e com cicatrizes mínimas.
