ABSTRACT

The symbolic meaning of the areola-papillary complex reinforces the need for a better result in breast reconstruction for women suffering breast cancer. The end of the reconstructive process aims at obtaining long-term patient satisfaction. Several techniques of nipple reconstruction have not fulfilled this goal because of the impossibility of maintaining the postoperative result permanently, mainly in respect to the projection of the nipple. This work proposes a modification to the C-V flap technique for nipple reconstruction with the insertion of a fragment of polytetrafluoroethylene prosthesis (PTFE), to assure good projection of the nipple over the long-term.

RESUMO

O significado simbólico do complexo areolopapilar reforça a busca de um melhor resultado na reconstrução mamária das mulheres com câncer de mama. A finalização do processo reconstrutivo visa obter a satisfação a longo prazo da paciente. Várias técnicas de reconstrução do mamilo não alcançaram tal meta pela impossibilidade de manter o resultado pós-operatório permanentemente, principalmente em relação à projeção do mamilo. Neste trabalho, propõese uma contribuição à técnica de retalho C-V para reconstrução do mamilo, a partir da inserção de fragmento de prótese de politetrafluoroetileno, assegurando boa projeção papilar a longo prazo.
