ABSTRACT

The obesity represents a chronic illness. The loss of weight after bariatric surgery varies from 40 to 60% of the initial weight, bringing deformities to the post-bariatric patients. The authors present, in this study, an analysis of 165 surgical procedures had been carried through at Service of Plastic Surgery of the General Hospital of Goiânia. They intended to evaluate the results gotten with the adopted surgical techniques, their complications and the psychological profile of the patients after the plastic surgeries. One concludes that the systematization and classification of the diverse types of deformities guide the surgeon in the choice of the surgical technique to be implemented. The complications in the post-bariatric patients are greater than in the habitual ones. The high degree of personal satisfaction and the social reintegration are evident after the plastic surgeries.

RESUMO

A obesidade representa uma doença crônica. A perda de peso pós-cirurgia bariátrica varia de 40 a 60% do peso inicial, trazendo deformidades aos ex-obesos. Os autores apresentam, neste estudo, uma análise de 165 procedimentos cirúrgicos, realizados no Serviço de Cirurgia Plástica do Hospital Geral de Goiânia. Objetivou-se avaliar os resultados obtidos com as técnicas cirúrgicas adotadas, suas complicações e o perfil psicológico dos pacientes após as cirurgias plásticas. Conclui-se que a sistematização e classificação dos diversos tipos de deformidades norteiam o cirurgião na escolha da técnica cirúrgica a ser implementada. As complicações nos pacientes ex-obesos são maiores do que nas habituais. O alto grau de satisfação pessoal e a reintegração social são evidentes após as cirurgias plásticas.
