ABSTRACT

Objective: To report on the experience of the plastic surgery service of the Instituto Nacional do Câncer in the treatment of nasal tip neoplasias. Method: Retrospective review of patients operated in the service between January 1998 and January 2002. Results: Two hundred and forty-eight patients were analysed. The main operative techniques were simple closure, local flaps, autograft and regional flaps. A total of 92% of the histopathologic samples presented with a safety margin free of the neoplasia. The result was considered satisfactory in 94% of the patients, 6 months after the surgery. Conclusion: Several options are available for the reconstruction of the nasal tip, giving satisfactory aesthetic results. Among the factors which must be considered in the choice of the technique are the size and the location of the defect, aesthetic aspects of the repair and clinic status of the patient.

RESUMO

Objetivo: Relatar a experiência do Serviço de Cirurgia Plástica do Instituto Nacional do Câncer no tratamento das neoplasias de ponta nasal. Método: Revisão retrospectiva dos pacientes operados no serviço entre janeiro de 1998 e janeiro de 2002. Resultados: Duzentos e quarenta e oito pacientes foram analisados. As principais técnicas operatórias foram o fechamento simples, os retalhos locais, a auto-enxertia e os retalhos de vizinhança. Noventa e dois por cento apresentaram limites livres de neoplasia à análise histopatológica. O resultado foi considerado satisfatório em 94% dos pacientes, 6 meses após a cirurgia. Conclusão: Muitas opções são adequadas para a reconstrução da ponta nasal, com resultados estéticos satisfatórios. Entre os fatores que devem ser considerados na escolha da técnica estão o tamanho e a localização do defeito, aspectos estéticos do reparo, além da situação clínica do paciente.
