ABSTRACT

Breast volume is frequently discussed in mammaplasties. However, no reference about how to establish dimension the various breast sizes was found in the literature researched. The purpose of this work is to present 6 scales of different sizes, in the shape of female breast, transparent, empty, that measure the breasts by the volume and provide numbers that are similar to the numbers used by brassiere manufacturers. The scales were tested in 180 women, therefore, 360 breasts with a level of reliability over 95%. They can be helpful in the evaluations and surgery planning of the mammaplasties, besides helping to improve the relation doctor-patient.

RESUMO

Volume mamário com freqüência é discutido nas mamoplastias. Entretanto, nenhuma referência de como dimensionar os diversos tamanhos mamários foi encontrada na literatura pesquisada. O propósito deste trabalho é apresentar seis medidores de tamanhos diferentes, em formato da mama feminina, transparentes, ocos, que medem as mamas volumetricamente e fornecem numeração semelhante à utilizada pelos fabricantes de sutiã. Os medidores foram testados em 180 mulheres (360 mamas), com grau de confiabilidade acima de 95%. Podem ser úteis nas avaliações e planejamento cirúrgico das mamoplastias, além de facilitar a melhor relação médico-paciente.
