ABSTRACT
Hemangiomas and vascular malformations are histologically benign lesions, but may have a severe repercussion with an unfavorable clinical pattern. In addition to the risks of functional deficits, deformities, especially when present on the face, often imply the occurrence of social and psychological impairment. The combination of treatment modalities may be beneficial, but surgical resection of the lesion follows as the only treatment capable of leading to radical healing. This paper intends to report a case of vascular malformation of lower lip treated in our service, emphasizing that the surgical approach of these cases results in expressive aesthetic and psychosocial gain, avoiding the use of other complementary therapeutic methods.
