ABSTRACT
Introduction: Gunshot wounds are becoming more frequent due to the increase in global violence. The involvement of the hand is highlighted because of its importance to daily activities. Therefore, it is necessary a treatment directed to functional recovery, which depends on the professional that will perform the operation.
Objective: Discuss the type of treatment and the evolution of patients with gunshot wound on the hand in Fortaleza, Ceará.
Methods: This is a descriptive and retrospective study. Analysis of patients medical records was performed January 2015 to December 2016.
Results: Male gender prevailed (76.9%), medium age was 33,28 years, the majority had unilateral injury (80.7%). The most used therapy was microplates and screws 2.0 system (53.8%), being joint stiffness the most common consequence (57%).
Conclusion: Predominant surgery technique was rigid fixation with plates and screws. Furthermore, it was noticed that the evolution of those who were treated later was also satisfactory.
